It was my second time visiting DC during peak cherry blossom season & I’ve been wanting to paint it ever since my first visit. This time, I finally did.
The most magical part of seeing them in person is witnessing the blossoms caught in a gentle breeze with petals loosening and drifting down like slow snowfall. In those moments, time feels suspended, almost dreamlike. When you pair that view with the Basin at sunrise or just before sunset, it becomes something almost unreal like pure magic in the middle of the city.
